Pennsylvania - Philly

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, we left Gettysburg and drove back to Philly for Heber to take his exam. My wonderful friend Karene met us there that afternoon. She is so fantastic - we have been friends since 5th grade, she is currently living in New York working for an advertising agency there. It was so fun to be so close to her and be able to meet up with her during our trip!

The next day, the 18, we toured the sights of Philadelphia:

Me, Karene and Taevin in front of the Constitution Center

A lady really spinning wool in the visitors center - she was not happy about taking a picture with us! :)

Independence Hall - where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution was signed.

An original draft of the Constitution - you can see their notes written in the margins.

Original court room in Independence Hall

Karene and Taevin

The room where the Constitution was signed.

The tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Revolutionary War.

The birds were everywhere and Heber totally got pooped on!! It was pretty funny.

Liberty Bell

The U.S. Mint - we wanted to take a tour but it was closed!

Benjamin Franklin's Grave
It was so amazing to see all these historical places where the ground work of our nation was laid. There are so many old buildings with such spectacular architecture - but everything was totally on top of each other. Buildings were built so close together you couldn't walk between them - I definitely prefer the openness of the west!
